The Winnipeg Model Boat Club was founded in 1994 by a group of avid model boat builders.
We build model boats for radio control as well as static models. Power for our boats includes electric, steam and of course wind – no internal combustion engines. We are an informal group with a common interest who enjoy sharing modeling designs and tips. Our skillsets vary from operating stock “ready to run” boats to building models from scratch.
In 2012 the Assiniboine Park Conservatory invited our group to sail our boats in the Riley Family Duck Pond located in Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba. It has been our home base ever since, although we boat in other locations as well.

Come visit us at the Riley Family Duck Pond at Assiniboine Park on Sunday mornings, from 9-ish to around 11am, or Wednesday evenings from 7pm until dark … at least when the pond isn’t frozen. During winter months, we still meet at the Qualico Centre café beside the Duck Pond for breakfast every Sunday at 8am. We also have club meetings every first Monday evening of the month. Our meetings are informal and include informative presentations, how-to clinics, swap meets, and friendly banter. You are most welcome to attend. Doors open at 6:45pm at Photo Central, 957 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg.
